Pale Blue Dot

I was born in Rio de Janeiro and have lived in Ribeirão Preto, Brasília, São Paulo, Boston, and Santiago de Chile. In 2018, the beautiful city of Porto became my home.

Although I have already visited so many places in this Pale Blue Dot, slowing down or stopping is something that never crosses my mind. It has been the best way to understand and accept that what makes us so similar is that we all deal with the same joys, fears, and questions. The opportunity to experience different cultures is fascinating. It enlightens you.

During my first travels, I would prepare a detailed itinerary and follow it regardless of what happened. However, as I began returning to certain cities, museums, and locations that I had enjoyed, I noticed a greater sense of calmness and mindfulness. These second experiences were often much more pleasant. That is why I now deliberately seek randomness and rarely plan ahead.

Furthermore, I have always loved getting as close as possible to the most authentic way of living in a city or country. The everyday life and habits of the locals are what I want to experience and learn more about.

Islands

It didn't take me long to realize how fragile and unprotected they are. For example, Rapa Nui is located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, five and a half hours by plane from Santiago. People living there have no other choice but to be as independent as they can be. Everything, from drinking water to recycling trash, has to be optimized for the circumstances they find themselves in.

And if we stop to think about it, Earth should be treated the same way. Ultimately, it is just a larger-scale representation of an island.
